17 December 2016 (Saturday)

Visited Sunfert in the morning and consulted Dr. Wong Pak Seng after a long wait. After performing vaginal ultrasound, informed by doctor is PCO and have retro-vented uterus. Given few treatment options: ovary operation, IUI, or IVF. We used to consider IUI as this is only our first attempt. IUI success rate is about 15% (treatment fees RM3k) while IVF is at 50% (treatment fees RM20k). Nevertheless, Dr. Wong suggested to go directly to IVF, considering the tediousness of travelling. After 15min of discussion, we decided to go for IVF, and started the cycle immediately.

Counselling room - Both of us had to do blood test before the nurse explained the procedures, schedule and fees breakdown for each phase of the treatment (5 phases in total). Learned to do self injection and started the injection right away.

24 December 2016 (Saturday)

Second appointment at Sunfert. Performed vaginal ultrasound and confirmed OOCYTE PICKUP (OPU) on Dec 28, 2016 at 9am. Dr. Wong advised to postpone the embryo transfer after 2 cycles as she was suffering OHSS. It would be uncomfortable if transfer was done during this cycle.

28 December 2016 (Wednesday)

OPU day. Flew to KL the day before as we had to reach Sunfert at 8am. Started fasting (neither food nor drink) after 11pm. After shower (no shampoo), we departed to Sunfert and reached at approximate 7.30am. Scheduled sperm collection at 8am and OPU at 9am. The whole procedure can be summarised as PAINFUL 😭😭, even though had been anaesthetised. Rested on bed for the next 2 hours before leaving the room. Given hot chocolate by nurse.

Counselling room - Total 17 eggs picked up.

9 February 2017 (Thursday)

2nd day of period. Appointment with Dr. Elizabeth Eu (Normah Specialist) for uterus scan. Sent the ultrasound images to Sunfert.

11 February 2017 (Saturday)

Received schedule from Sunfert for embryo transfer procedure. Collect medicine PROGYNOVA 2MG at Normah (3 times a day from 11-26 Feb). Should have just bought from pharmacy, as Normah charged extra consultation fee (RM40).

Performed vaginal ultrasound at Normah. Again, sent ultrasound images to Sunfert through WhatsApp. Got another 2 medicines: DUPHASTON 10MG (3 times a day) & CRINONE (insert once a day at 11am) from 22-26 Feb.

25 February 2017 (Saturday)

Performed vaginal ultrasound at Sunfert. No abnormality so decided to insert 2 embryos after consultation with Dr. Wong. Transfer was scheduled on Feb 27, 2017 between 12 to 2pm. Will stay in KL until Mar 2, 2017 as advised by doctor.

27 February 2017 (Monday)

Embryo transfer day. Arrived at Sunfert at 10.30am. Asked to drink as much water as she could because the procedure requires full bladder. While waiting for her turn, she couldn't hold it and pee for 2 times, but still able to maintain required level until her turn, about 1.30pm. The transfer procedure only took about 5min and was not painful at all. After that, needed to continue laying down for 2 hours.

Counselling room - Told to perform pregnancy test on Mar 9, 2017. Continue to take PROGYNOVA, DUSPATON, VENTOLIN, and insert CRINONE.

Did blood test at Normah, experienced some bleeding since Mar 8. HCG level 465, confirmed PREGNANT!!!! Dr. Elizabeth consulted Dr. Wong for giving Proluton injection as she experienced spotting.
